What Is Inflammation In The Blood Vessels Of The Brain Suggestive Of?
I have had a headache for a month now.had a MRI and it showed inflammation in blood vessels in my brain...neurologist wasn t concerned after looking at the scan...Dr said it could be vasculitis vs leukomalacia....what does this mean and what are the treatments..thanks
Vasculitis is an inflammation of the blood vessels that causes changes in the blood vessel walls. It may result in thickening and weakening of blood vessel walls.
Treatment would focus on controlling the inflammation with medications and resolving any underlying disease that has triggered vasculitis.
Currently, there are no treatments prescribed for PVL. All treatments administered are in response to secondary pathological symptoms that develop as a consequence of PVL.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
