Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a CT today after severe headache and neck pain...I have noticed on the report... there is a high density structure with calcific foci within the soft tissues overlying the occiput. This may represent a chronic haematoma or foreign body. I have been discharged with a prescription for strong painkillers and no mention of the above. Should I be worried?
In case you have had any history of trauma and hematoma formation, the calcific structure could be due to calcification of hematoma. I suggest you to consult a neurosurgeon with CT report for clinical assessment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
