Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My MRI stated that I had desiccation and loss of disc height with disc protrusion to the right side, displacement of the subarticular central portion of the right S1 root, and a tear within the annulus containing fluid? I m wondering if this is what is causing my back and leg pain, numbness and tingling on right leg, and if this requires surgery?
Based on your MRI report, it is clearly indicating there are several lesions affecting your spine at S1. Also, it is the cause for all the symptoms you are experiencing.
A decision on the mode of treatment can only be taken by the doctor after clinical examination and correlation of clinical findings with the report.
Kindly consult Orthopedician with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
