hi...i am 27 yrs old unmarried...my sonography report says- both ovaries are enlarged in size and show excessive central echogenic stroma, with multiple small sub centimetre follicles arranged around periphery. My question is what is echogenic stroma? also 2 years back when i was detected pcod size of ovaries were - left ovary - 3.1 X 2.8 X 2.7 vol. 11-12cc right ovary - 4 X 2.4 X 2.3 vol. 11-12 cc now the size have changed. new size and vol is left ovary - 3.1 X 2.1 X 2.7 vol. 9.4 cc right ovary -3.1 X 1.2 X 3.1 vol 9.1 cc please let me know is there any significance of this change is size of ovary. also my uterus is anteverted position. what does that mean?
1. Echogenic stoma is indicative of polycystic ovaries.
2. A change in the size could be due to treatment you receive for PCOD
3. Anteverted uterus is the normal position of the uterus which means the uterus, or womb, is tilted towards the front of the abdomen.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
