What Is My Thyroid Ultrasound Result Suggestive Of?
Hi, I had an ultrasound today on my thyroid, because my blood did not come out normal. I m having trouble swallowing, hoarseness and thickness on my left thyroid. My right measured at 5.5 x 1.9 x 2.1 cm and left is 3.9 X 1.7 x 1.5 cm. Can you help understand this. I m waiting for my doctor to call, but that probably won t until Monday. Can you please explain these results. Do I need to worry? Thank you, Susan

The thyroid gland has 2 lobes like a butterfly wings. The measurements are of the lobes of your thyroid gland which seems to be slightly enlarged on right side.
It could possibly be goiter but still I cannot say it 100% surely because I don't have all your reports. Don't worry everything would be alright. The treatment would be a minor surgery to remove some part of your thysoid or would give you medicines. It depends on the doctor who's treating you.
