What Is My Ultrasound Scan Result During Early Pregnancy Suggestive Of?
Hi.my last Lmp was 1.10.2016.i took home pregnecy test on 8.11.2016.i had very light spotting on 10.11.2016..i consulted the doc. on 18.11.2016 and had a ultrasound scan..it shows 5.4 weeks gestation sac in it fetal pol visualised cardic activity not seen.. Doc. Said after the spotting baby is not growing..she advised Hucog injection 5000 IU and progesterone 200 twice a day..i m having history of PCOS and thyroid..
A fetus of 5.4 weeks can be seen in ultrasound but the heart is normal not to be visualized. It is difficult to determine if the fetus is growing only with one ultrasound. Generally it is recommended to repeat the ultrasound in one week and see if the gestational sac and fetus is growing proportionally from the last ultrasound or not.
Generally there is no treatment recommended for spotting in the first trimester. It happens in 20% of women and half of them go on with the pregnancy and no treatment changes the outcome so very likely you will not need to get any medications at the moment but just try to relax, avoid intercourse during this week and have an ultrasound in a week.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
