Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What is necrosis of the jawbone. I just received a Prolia shot, second year. Last year I had a tooth pulled because the dentist said that I had bone degeneration. Is that the same as necrosis of the jawbone. I have had no other problems with my teeth since that episode.
As per your complain tooth extraction in your case seems to be due to bone resorption rather than degeneration of bone.. Bone resorption occurs due to causes like deep seated gum infection while can also be due to deep tooth decay.. However gum infection commonly cause bone resorption.. On the other hand necrosis is due to deep infection that can even involve bone marrow.. In your case if you do not have any problems post extraction, you need not to worry as it does not seems to be Prolia related Necrosis..
However you should keep a regular follow up with your Dentist with appropriate x rats to avoid sprouting of any complications..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
