What Is Normal Dosage Of Colchicine For Gout Attack?

Yes. My doctor called in a script for Colchicine 0.6 tablet. My friend picked it up and there were only 4 tablets in the bottle. Take twice daily. Is this normal? Why not enough for a month at least. I requested med. because my gout attack has lasted two weeks, and swelling has not completely resided.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Colchicine 0.6 tablet should not be taken for more than three days. Two days of treatment are enough.

You can use two tablets per day. Also, after receiving the medicine you should not take any more colchicine (tablets or injection) for at least 7 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
