What Is Patchy Nodular Airspace Disease And Can This Be Caused By Radiation Treatment That Was Done To The Throat And Chest Area?
What is patchy nodular airspace disease? Can this be caused by radiation treatment that was done to the throat and chest area? I have been coughing ever since I had radiation to my throat and chest area. The radiation ended in September 2013. Another issue is shortness of breath that's persistently getting worse with not that much movement.
I had a chest x-ray yesterday, and they think that it could be this patchy nodular airspace disease, or possibly pneumonia, or…?
I am so sorry to hear about these findings and the symptoms you have been experiencing. This description may point towards emphysema. This is even more likely if you have a past history of smoking. Radiation therapy is not one of the known causes. I will like you to follow up with a pulmonologist to get more answers on this and help resolve your symptoms.
I hope this addresses your query fully. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more clarification or information if need be. I wish you well. Dr. Ditah, MD.
