my wife (32) has been diagnosed with bells palsy and she has been suffering for the last 45 days. In addition to the steroids she is being given galvanic stimulant regularly. but no such improvement of her condition has been noticed till now. what should she do now?
I can understand your concern. Bell's Palsy is the result of the paralysis of the facial nerve and its branches which supply almost all the parts of the face. In case of nerve damage, it is very difficult to predict when the nerve will regenerate and regain its sensation. However, it might take 3 months to about 2 years for a case of Bell's Palsy to resolve completely.
It is unfortunate that the cause of Bell's Palsy and the specific time it might take to recover can't be advised to the patient in many cases. I would recommend you to continue with the treatment as the treatment she is receiving is expected to give results sooner or later. In addition, she can massage the facial areas to regain sensations faster.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish your wife recovers soon.
