Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently been diagnosed with CHF, with an ejection fraction of 20-25. I am a 55 y/o female, and am on metropolol and Diovan. I am constantly fatigued, short of breath especially with even slight activity, and coughing especially when I try to sleep, this is why I am awake at 3:49 am. What can I expect as far as returning to work, etc.
As your ejection fraction is around 20-25, this is not a very satisfying condition, that is why you are experiencing short of breath even with slight activity. To improve your heart function you may need additional medicines such as digoxin, spironolactone, enlarpil etc., Further you may also need implantable cardioverter defibrillator/ ventricular- assist device for improving the function of your heart. Hence kindly follow up with cardiologist.
