Hi doc,my mom diagnosed that she is having a pulmonary hyperaeration. What does it mean? Is says also that hazy infiltrates seen on the right upper lung zone. What is the cause of this? Hoping that i can get an answer as soon as possible.Im away with my mom and can t stop thinking about her health issues. Thanks!
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Hyperaereted lungs means, lungs are hyoertrophied and enlarged. It is commonly seen with COPD (chronic obstructive Pulmonary disease). Hazzy infiltrates in upper zone is suggestive of pneumonia (lung infection) in that part of lung. So better to take her to pulmonologist and get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) and CT thorax. PFT is must for the diagnosis of COPD. CT scan will be more informative about pneumonia than chest x ray. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your mother. Thanks.
