What Is Recurring Swelling In Lymph Nodes Behind The Ears Indicative Of?
My nephew is in the hospital since Christmas with. Swollen lymph nodes behind his ears and chin. They treated him with meds through an IV, but now he is back in the hospital because the gland is swollen again and mom is calling it a lump that is not filled with liquid but it has infected matter in the lump? What could this be? He is getting headaches and he is only four years old. A cat scan and ultra sound has not told them what it is
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain the symptoms seems to be due to swollen lymph nodes and as it is behind the ears it seems to be due to inflammation of Post Auricular Lymphadenopathy and it can be due to infection in Oro-Pharyngeal infections.. The best way through which he can be diagnosed for the exact cause of the swelling is by Biopsy/FNAC, blood tests etc.. I would suggest you that first of all he should undergo proper investigations and after a proper clinical evaluation and diagnosis treatment can be planned accordingly.. In case if infection or inflammation is the cause antibiotics oral as well as injectable or i.v can help.. He can be advised steroids and also anti-inflammatory painkillers.. Do warm compresses over the lymph nodes can help..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
