Sometimes mild & sometimes severe. Curently started on Pentasa-4 x 2 times daily. (500mg). Took as a maintaince drug for years prior to a flare up about 2 yrs ago. Also taking methotrexate 4x2.5mg 1 time a week. Can I take tylenol or such to alleviate pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Sacroiltitis is inflamation in the sacro iliac joint that is the joint wher our spine is attached to the legs, mostly it chronic inflamtion, and it can cause backache. This can well be associated with your ulcerative colitis ,as this is found in about 30 to 50 percent of patients of UC. Tylenol can be taken safely no problem with that , besides i would also advise to do some spine exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
