What Is The Adequate Weight Of A 9 Months Old Child?
Hi doctor, my son is 9 months old and his weight is still 7 kg I am worried about his weight. He is energetic and playing well. When I feed him four to five times he poop twice but if I feed more he poop for 4 times. I am very much worried about his health. Pls suggest .
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern. Average weight of a 9 month old kid is 8.5 - 9 kg. 7 kg is slightly low weight of a 9 months old kid. There is nothing abnormal in this. Also your child is energetic and playing well is also ruling out any physical problem. you should now start changing his meals to cooked rice, pulses, bread, soft chapaties etc. By 9 months, you can introduce non-vegetarian food like egg yolks, chicken and some fish to baby. All things can be broken into small pieces and given as finger food too. Hard food items or large pieces of food like rawcarrots etc should not be given as they can pose choking hazard.
If he continues to be underweight consult a pedatrician
Hope this helps
