What Is The Alternative Medicament Available For Prevacid?
My name is Sara. I have a niece who has treachealesophagus fistula, they are using prevacid for her acid since her stomach cannot keep the acid down, however it is very unsafe for longterm use and her mother has been looking for other alternatives much safer but the doctors tell her there is nothing. I have been looking for a website where other parents discuss these kinds of questions and see if any other parents have tried something else much safer to use. what can you help me with.
hi, First remember that there is literally no drug that is free from side effects or complications. some drugs have more, some have less and minor. It is for the doctor to compare the risk of side effects with the risk of not using the drug; and in many cases, the later is much worse. As for you, if potent antacids are not used in TEF (fistula), acid may reflux into respiratory tree and can damage the lungs, which costs more that any guess. so i do not recommend change of drug or withdrawal or any other alternative, and the patient needs prevacid (or any other antacid for that matter.) Hope this is understood.
