What Is The Baby Hair Grown After Chemotherapy Called?
When I was in school for funeral service there was a vocabulary term for the fine baby hair that grows back after one has undergone chemotherapy. Chemo curls was not the term, I m thinking the term was infantile. I do not have my vocabulary notes handy. Can you help me?
The term used for infantile hair that are very thin, sparsely pigmented and soft is called as the lanugo hair. This is different from the vellus hair, the term used for facial hair like peach fuss which start of fine in childhood and thickens / darken in adulthood.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ayesha Shareef, General & Family Physician
