What Is The Best Antibiotic For Travellers Diarrhoea?

Hi, What is the best antibiotic for travellers diahorrea? friend has started taking amoxycillin, but no change and so wondering whether to start norfloxycillin? How long should she wait after taking amoxycillin before commencing norfloxycillin? Thanks

I can appreciate your concern, do not worry it will be allright.
Usually antibiotics are not required, Traveler's diarrhea usually goes away on its own within few days.
It's important to stay hydrated with safe liquids, such as bottled water or canned juice.
Antibiotics are useful if you have more than four loose stools a day or severe symptoms, including fever or blood, pus or mucus in your stools.
Amoxicillin by itself causes diarrahoea as its side effect hence it is not advisable however Norfloxacillin or Ciprofloxacin are found to be effective in such condition.
She may discontinue taking Amoxicillin and start taking Norfloxacillin or Ciprofloxacillin.

Take care of your health.
Take precautions whenever you are travelling abroad.
