Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been having a difficult time trying to gain weight. I m 5 11 about 145 LBS I ve tried eating over 3000 calories a day which becomes very difficult to do as well as exercising. I also looked into using whey protein but that didn t seem to be the right step to take. I gained about 5 or 6 LBS at one point but I lost most of it. I really don t know what else to do.
Hello, I suppose you are not trying to get fat. You're probably trying to get muscular. You haven't mentioned your age and medical history. If you're a healthy young person then the way to go is high resistance weight training. High resistance means more than 80% of your maximum power. You should be able to repeat the exercise only 5-8 times. If you can repeat it more than 10-15 times then this is more like aerobic training, which is great but won't pump your muscles up that much. If you're not experienced with weight training then I suggest you get advice from an expert in your first steps to avoid unnecessary injuries. Also, if you're more than 30-35 years old or have any medical condition, you'd better consult your doctor regarding engaging into an exercise program. If you have more questions on the subject, I'll be glad to answer. Kind Regards!
