What Is The Best Treatment For Burning Soles Of Feet?
Dear Doctor, My father is 80. years old. He is suffering from diabeties for last 15 years. He was hospitalised in jan 2010 for diabeties, low sodium & low haemoglobin. Which was controlled subsequently. Now for last 6 months he has severe burning soles for both feet. He was prescribed with Tab Pregeb MOD 150 mg daily one at night. After having these he started getting weakness but not much relief from burning. He took these for 21 days. Now the doctor has prescribed Gabapentin 300 mg 3 times a day. Yesterday he took first dose and today he is having fever, dizziness.Kindly let us know the whether this is the side effects of the Gabapentin ?And also advise proper medication for his sever burning soles and also to overcome his weakness.
Thank you for asking! The burning sole of the feet with diabetes history is diabetic neuropathy and it needs a diabetologist to constantly monitor the gluocose profile and also a neurologist to help that neuropathy with neurotonic and analgesics. It is a challenge and old age makes it more challenging. May the odds be ever in your father's favour. Hope you see it in a right perspective. Regards S Khan
