What Is The Best Treatment For The Polyp On The Cervix Diagnosed During Pregnancy?

Hello, my wife is 6 weeks pregnant after successful IVF treatment. She has had light brown spotting for a few weeks now which is sometimes more pink. She was diagnosed with a polyp on her cervix close to where the baby is. The doctor wants to remove it after the 8 week mark. We are unsure as we have herad both removing it and leaving it could cause a miscarriage. What is the best course of action?

Hello,

Removing cervical polyp after the first trimester is not likely to cause miscarriage. However, most polyps during pregnancy need not be removed and they usually regress by itself after delivery. So discuss with your OBGYN the need for removing the polyp now or if it can be postponed until after delivery.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
