What Is The Cause And Treatment For Chromium Sensitivity?

After seven years working on a curb machine, excruding sement daily, on both curb and myself, I have developed chromium sensitivity. My exposure ended ten years ago but in order to receive disability I need to have a test. Hexavalent chromium did not have limits in the products then, as they do now. No question on the chromium sensitivity, just how and where may I be tested. Chromium sensitivity effects still produce lesions, swelling of hands and limbs and nasal and sinus symptoms when ever I am exposed to a number of ingredients, not always cement. My apology. I have no funds to gamble on another guess.

Hi,

Chromium sensitivity, also known as chromium allergy, is a type of allergic reaction that occurs when the immune system reacts to exposure to chromium. Chromium is a metal that is commonly used in various industries, including construction, welding, and manufacturing.

The symptoms of chromium sensitivity can vary from person to person, but they typically include skin rashes, hives, itching, and swelling. In severe cases, it can also cause difficulty breathing and anaphylaxis. To diagnose chromium sensitivity, a patch test is typically performed by a dermatologist or allergist. During a patch test, a small amount of chromium is applied to the skin, and the skin is then monitored for a reaction.

There is no cure for chromium sensitivity, but avoiding exposure to chromium is the best way to prevent symptoms. If you are diagnosed with chromium sensitivity, it's important to avoid products that contain chromium, such as cement and other construction materials. You may also want to consider wearing protective clothing and gloves when working with materials that may contain chromium.

In terms of treatment, antihistamines and corticosteroid creams may be used to relieve symptoms such as itching and swelling. In severe cases, immunotherapy may also be used to desensitize the immune system to chromium.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
