Hi,
Noted the history about your 78 years old Father having
hypertension, taking Hopace 2.5, increased to 5 mg twice daily, suffering rom Chakkar that is vertigo.
The commonest causes for vertigo at the age of 78 are one of the following.
Hypertension can be the primary cause.
Restricted blood circulation to the brain by constricted vessels of old age.
Problem with inner ears that is semicircular canals.
Problem with cerebellum.
All these can be diagnosed by the following ways:
Clinical evaluation, examination by a Doctor.
Second opinion of an ENT or
Neurologist as per the primary cause found.
Investigations like MRI of
cervical spine, brain and ears as the case may be.
The management will obviously be as per the cause found and symptomatic with medications like
Cinnarizine.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
