Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi all of a sudden in the past 6 months I have skin tags popping up all over my body. Also my skin has changed and is very dry and itches I also noticed my hair is falling out more than normal. I was tested for thyroid 8 months ago and it was normal. Is skin tags also a sign of Thyroid? I do have joint pain as well but I have RA for the pasted 30 years.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Skin tags are not a sign of thyroid disorder. The lesions which have developed all over the body have to be examined. If the skin tags are superficial enough, they have to be excised for histopathological examination. You need to consult your surgeon for clinical assessment, surgical excision of the lesions and histopathological examination. Histopathology will determine the nature and character of the lesions. If surgically feasible all lesions can also be removed if cosmetically disfiguring.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
