What Is The Cause And Treatment For Sore Throat?

I have a sore throat. I went to an urgent care after it was bothersome for over two weeks. It is not extremely painful, but get very dry and has yellow "gunk" on it. I am almost done taking the augmentine she prescribed. I feel like it was almost completely better, but now it hurts a little again and has yellow stuff on it. Today I also started feeling very achy, my head hurts, I have no energy, and I've had diarrhea all day, which makes my stomach hurt.

Hi and Welcome to HCM.

Thank you for the query.

the problem you are suffering from is just a congested pharynx,resulting in acute pharyngitis.

if I were your doctor,I would treat you with the following

1.An antibiotic for the infection: Tab.azithromycin 500mg PO once daily after meals., for 3 days.

2.A pain killer : tab. paracetamol 650 mg PO twice a day after meals 3 days.

3.Salt and Luke warm water gargling thrice a day.

4.Drink lots of water.

This definitely would bring down your symptoms gradually.If they still persist,i recommend you to show to an ENT specialist,for further examination and work-ups.

Looking at your other symptoms,tab.Augmentin usually washes off the intestinal bacteria,which help in digestion of the food,resulting in diarrhea.

tab.Sporolac- 2tabs each time,thrice a day for 3 days would help you with the diarrhea. This would help you rebuilt the intestinal flora.

Have curd/yogurt in the afternoon.
