Hello,
Tinnitus commonly occurs due to infection in the ear (AOM), presence of wax in the auditory canal, side effects of certain medications you have been taking, injury, partial or complete perforation of the ear drum/tympanic membrane. You are suggested to get your ear examined by an ENT. Get
audiometry test, lab tests, CT / MRI done to detect the pathology causing the symptoms. You will be treated accordingly.
Infection (AOM) detected will be treated with antibiotics and anti inflammatory.
Ear wax will be removed, blood vessels will be treated by the ENT. If required hearing aids will be given.
Physical therapy will be recommended if required, CBT, TRT,
tinnitus retraining therapy. It is effective. Cut on alcohol, caffeine and
nicotine. Manage stress. Avoid exposure to loud sound.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
