What Is The Cause And Treatment Of Pseudomonas Infection?
RECENTLY BECAME SICK WITH A PSEUDOMONAS INFECTION WITH A wbc COUNT OF 21.16 SERIOUSLY THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE, FOUR WEEKS LATER A URINE CULTURE AGAIN IDENTIFIED IT AS PSEUDOMONAS UROLOGIST SAID SOME THING ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF A COLONIZED CASE. MY QUESTION IS WHAT EXACTLY IS A COLONIZED CASE OF PSEUDOMONAS ? THE INFECTION DISEASE DOCTOR WAS EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING AND DO NOT CARE TO DEAL WITH AGAIN.
What that means is that somewhere in your body is a "protected" localized area where the Pseudomonas persists. From time to time it gets out of this area and causes a more obvious infection. The source could be an abscess somewhere inside your body, a bad heart valve, metal as from a prior surgery, a joint replacement, or other such things. The key is to find the source and treat it so the Pseudomonas doesn't come back. Depending on what it is, this may mean extended treatment with antibiotics, surgery, removal of infected foreign bodies, or whatever it requires to get rid of the source. Hope this helps.
