What Is The Cause For A Swollen Knee After Physical Activities?
Hey Doc......give me the news......what is going on with my knee after playing tennis, walking, volleyball etc. The knee gets a swollen.... on the top outer part of the knee. Is water on the knee? or something else.
Your symptoms point towards knee synovitis and knee effusion. Meaning the joint line of the knee gets swollen and secretes excess fluid which gets accumulated in the joint. The triggering factor seems to be stress due to sporting activity.
Firstly get an MRI of the knee done and evaluated. Get an arthritis panel done too.
Start by taking Naproxen twice daily for the swelling. Cut down on the physical activity for a while.
Rest treatment will depend on test result.
I hope my advice has helped. Good luck
