What Is The Cause For High Bilirubin, High AST And Low Cholesterol?

My 22 year old son who is normal height and weight, never been sick, NEVER had a drop of alcohol or drugs, had a blood test that said he had a high bilirubin count, high AST and low cholesterol (below 100). He doesn t eat particularly well but started working out and running more recently but not to excess. He HAS been having unusual depression and even anxiety attacks over the last 6 months. Could these things all be related?

Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your son having healthy life at 22 but got the blood tests showing high bilirubin, high AST, and low cholesterol. He is staying out for work and started running recently. He has unusual depression and anxiety for 6 months, wants to know whether the things are related.
Sicne you have not mentioned about the duration of the symptoms, my thoughts are.
He has Hepatitis due to eating outside and needs further tests to decide the form of hepatitis and also the tests of MRCP and such things that may be indicated by clinical evaluation and examination by a Gastroenterologist.
The depression and anxiety may be due to his being out of home at the age of 22 for the first time.
Ask him to get an evaluation by a Psychologist too.
