What Is The Cause For Severe Pain In The Ear When On Ciprodex Drops?
Just started Ciprodex ear drops for our daughter. This is the fourth time she has taken these over the last 5 years. She is complaining of severe pain in the ear immediately after the drops were placed. She has never reacted like this before. She still has 3 small perforations following a tympanoplasty 11 months ago She is midway through a course of augmentin for mastoiditis. ENT today said the ear was free from infection. Thanks in advance for your help.
I have gone through your query. Ear drops are advised when there is no perforation in tympanic membrane. You have mentioned that your daughter has 3 perforations, and you put ciprodex. Drops pass through the membrane to internal ear causing irritation and pain to her. I advise you to consult an ENT surgeon and discontinue putting drop till then. Antibiotics given orally will deal with the infection in the ear.
