What Is The Cause For Sharp Intermittent Tingling Pain In Ankle?

I have a sharp, intermittent, tingling pain that occurs just below the left inside ankle. This has been occurring off and on for probably the past 6 months. I do not know if I have done anything to injure the ankle/foot but it seems to periodically get worse, like it has this past week. The other thing I can think off is I was in a rear-end auto accident about 3 years ago. I did have some discomfort in this generally area, but nothing was diagnosed and the discomfort went away a couple months later.

Hello,
I have gone through your history understand your concern.
Your symptoms are suggesting of some injury to your nerve near the ankle joint.
Intermittent, tingling and sharp pain are the features of nerve injury.
That is the reason you are having the symptoms for last 6 months. The injury to the nerve would have occurred during your accident and now something is compressing the nerve leading to the symptoms.
I would suggest you a few changes in everyday habits can help get pain under control. You can take some medicine to relieve the pain.
If your pain is persisting, reason for the pain should be ruled out by examination and then further modality of treatment can be decided.
Feel free to post any query.
Thank you.
