What Is The Cause For Trouble In Hearing After Severe Cold When On Decongestants And Mucus Medication?
I have had clogged ears (both & sometimes one is worse than the other) for over 3 weeks after being ill with a severe cold. I have been taking decongestants & mucus medication. I breath in over a steam machine several times a day & lie with ears on heating pad before bed. Nothing seems to help for very long & I can not get in to see an ENT for over 3 months. My GP said I don't seem to have an ear infection that he can see. It feels like I am under water & am having trouble hearing. What else can I try?
hi its quite common to have clogged ears during cold. all that you are doing is the proper treatment we advice. along with that we advice something called valsalva maneuver. just pinch and close your nose and keep your mouth closed and blow for 3 seconds. you will feel pressure in the ear. do this for 6 to 8 times a day. it will help. you can put normal saline ear drops for 2 to 3 times a day. that might help reduce the edema. hope it helps
