What Is The Cause Of Blood Thinness And Cardiac Comlication When On Lipitor?

i have afib and take warwarfin 2.5 -3.75. i am being treated for bronchial issue, lots of coughing. started out w/ flu symptoms, stiffness, aches, and then turned to coughing, intermittant shortness of breath and wheezing. no fever..i have been prescribed ventolin hfa 90mg, methylpredsolone 4mg, 21 tabs (6, 5, 4 etc), and amox tr-k cvl 875 125 mg tabs 2 per day x 10. i also take lipitor 10 mg and metropol tartrate 50 mg x 1 1/2 tabs 2 per day. i am 67 and have consistent 2 - 3 therapuetic scores. concern is each of these new meds i will be taking have major issues with warwarfin therapy, dangerous elevated blood thinness and cardiac complications. i was going to the coumadin clinic on thursday to check on the effect meds have had on levels but out of fear i haven t begun taking any of these. 3 at one time seems like too much. maybe 1 at a time? which one? i am hoping now it will clear up on its own. it hasn t gotten any worse and at times i think its been better..ps i love my dr of 21 years and i am happy with my heart dr. i called today and was told there shouldn t be a problem.. it seems however, that the abuterol, the steroids and the antibiotics are problems for the afib patient. can you tell me what you think i should do? thank you

Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. Neither the steroids or the antibiotics should be aproblem for the afib, actually not treating the infection and inflammation may worsen the afib, so it appears indicated. In terms of the albuterol, only if use is excessive and frequent it can exacerbate heart rates of afib.

Hope this helps, wish you the best,
