What Is The Cause Of Ear Pain?

I am so worried I have had a terrible ear ache for ages, I went to see the doctor who said I had an infection and prescribed me anti biotics., they didn t seem to work then it seemed better at the end of the course, (this ear I am half deaf in through measles as a child so i always seem to get problems only in that ear. My ear is burning like crazy and killing and I am taking pain killers which only take th edge off it , there is no apparent discharge., it kills also if I get water in it. I wonder about ruptured ear drum ? wouldthat explain the pain ? I m worrying about worse things., ...thank you
