What Is The Cause Of Irregular Periods?

I’ve had irregular periods my whole life and I was wondering what the cause could possibly be? I’m currently 22 and I maybe get my period every 2-4 months? Unfortunately I don’t have medical insurance and don’t have the money to schedule a OBGYN visit :( any advice at all would help!

Hello,

Irregular period can occur due to several conditions including thyroid hormone imbalance, Polycystic ovarian syndrome etc. Detailed evaluation including a thyroid function test, estrogen level, LH/FSH level, ultrasound scan are required at this point to provide a definite diagnosis. Please be advised to follow up with your primary provider/obgyn. Meanwhile, maintain healthy weight, exercise regularly and eat healthy.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
