What Is The Cause Of Pain In Nose And Throat Discharge?
Hi Dr Samuel I went to see a doctor because my nose was pain and there was discharge form my throat with dark blood. He told me that I had nose infection and prescribed cephalexin for 10 days. I have had them for 5 days but my nose is still pain. I am worried about if there is other reason to cause the pain for example cancer. Based on your experience what do you think? Thank you
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain in nose and throat discharge which is due to upper respiratory tract infection/ sinusitis. I would suggest you take nasal decongestant sprays. you should take antihistamines and antibiotic combination as severe infection is present. Need not to panic about cancer and all. Co amoxiclav is another treatment option. You should take steam inhalation. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get paransal sinus x-ray and throat swab test done to check extent of infection and start treatment accordingly. Do warm saline gargles. You should take Take Diphenhydramine and Dextromethorphan for 4-5 days. Maintain proper hygiene and avoid cold liquids and spicy food.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
