Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
One of the most common causes is as a result of a fall and landing in a seated position. Prolonged sitting on a hard or narrow surface can also cause the problem. Obesity is another cause due to the heavy load being forced upon the coccyx.
Treatment includes analgesics, heat or ice, and rest.
Luckily there are special cushions that can alleviate the pressure and help make sitting much more enjoyable.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
Warm Regards
