What Is The Cause Of The Boil On Face?

I am curious if once a boil or infected area begins to drain if that typically means the infection is getting better. Back ground info. My son has a boil on his face , he was treated with a shotnof ceftriaxone and prescribed strong dose of cephalexin. The area is finally oozing, itnappears that the dark red area is not getting larger. However the skin is blotchy up his cheek bone. He does not have a fever. He did pee blood the day he first went on medication but has not since then. ( that was two days ago). Should I assume that the antibiotics are doing their job and we are likely in the clear unless he urinates blood or breaks a fever again?
