Welcome to Healthcare Magic Your child is definitely anaemic. Usually for children it is best if haemoglobin stays above 11g%. His diet should be rich in fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables, pulses, cereals as nutrtion with iron rich food is very important and is a common cause of anaemia in children. Let him eat chicken, lean meat, eggs also if non-vegetarian. There is possibility for hookworm infection which is common in children and can be confirmed by stool test. If he can get other tests done like TIBC, Serum ferritin the correct diagnosis of iron deficiency anaemia can be made, otherwise other causes may by implicated in causing anaemia.
Hello;
welcome to HealthcareMagic
In males the normal haemoglobin level is between 14-16 so at 9.7 your sons haemoglobin is on lower side.Anaemia in chilhood is based on the cut off levels like for the child of age 6 months to 5 years the anaemia is if the haemogobin is less than 11 mg/dl.Please consult a Paediatrician to get your child examined and he will prescribe the necessary iron supplement to increase the haemoglobin.
Take care.
