What Is The Correct Way To Consume Glycomet-GP 2?
Hi .sir my name is Asgar ali my age is 41 .i m taking this medicine called glycomet-GP 2 .may i know the correct way to consume it . Like before breakfast or after.my doctor in india recommended me to take it empty stomach and after 20minutes only i m suppose to have something .and now one of my family doctor recommended after breakfast i m really confuse plz help me out .waiting for your reply .thank you

Glycomet-GP 2 contains both Glimepiride and Metformin that belongs to the group of medications known as anti diabetic medications is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus by controlling blood sugar levels. To get the most benefit, it is preferably taken at the same time each day. It is recommended to take Glycomet-GP 2 with a meal to reduce stomach upset and other bowel side effects. So, Glycomet-GP 2 should be taken after breakfast.

The drug you asked about, Glycomet GP 2 is a combination of two drugs Glimipiride and Metformin. Glimipiride is to be taken before food and Metformin after food. So the confusion is genuine. What I suggest to my patients is:
1) If you have gastric irritation, better to take the tablet after food
2) If you don't have any symptoms of gastric irritation, you can have it before food
3) You can take it either way which ever would be comfortable with you.
