hi doctor, i m a 15 year old boy, i have an oily face and usually i get pimples on my face, i tried many things.......but nothing worked........from some days back i was using fair and lovely cream, at first the pimples were stopped but now they are coming again, now what should i do ????
Acne or pimples is a common teenage problem. I would advice against using any OTC creams like fair& lovely because instead o doing good, it may do more harm.
If I was your treating doctor I would have asked you to use a topical clindamycin or benzoyl peroxide gel once or twice daily for active acne. Clindamycin can be used for day time application and benzoyl peroxide for night time application. Benzoyl peroxide in addition to being a topical antibacterial is also a keratolytic as well as a bleaching agent and also prevents the development of bacterial resistance to antibiotics.
I would advice that you see a dermatologist. Your treating dermatologist might also feel the need to start you on oral antibiotics like either doxycycline or azithromycin for 4-12 weeks depending on the response and severity of acne
