What Is The Diagnosis For The Attached Renal Angiography?
MR RENAL ANGIOGRAPHY (NON-ENHANCED) PROTOCOL: Axial T2 and coronal BTFE sequences m2DI and B Trance non-contrast MR angiography
Abdominal aorta is normal in calibre and shows wall irregularity. Single renal artery is noted bilaterally. Right renal artery is grossly narrowed. Left renal artery shows wall irregularity. No evidence of renal artery stenosis. Ostea of left renal artery appears normal. Right kidney is shrunken and shows contour irregularities with thinned out parenchyma. Right kidney measures 8.6 x 3.9cms Multiple cortical cysts are noted in right kidney. Left kidney shows mild compensatory hypertrophy with minimal contour irregularity. Left kidney measures 10.5 x 5.2cms. It shows few cortical cysts, largest one measuring 5.7 x 5.7cms in upper pole. Bilateral perinephric fat stranding is noted. Adrenal glands are normal. No mass lesion. Ureters are normal. No evidence of duplex moiety. Celiac axis, its branches and superior mesenteric artery are normal in course and calibre.
Impression: Shrunken right kidney with multiple cortical cysts. Grossly narrowed right renal artery. Mild compensatory hypertrophy of left kidney with multiple cortical cysts. No evidence of renal artery stenosis on left.
Hi. Your right kidney has a gross abnormality. Are you suffering from hypertension? Multiple cortical cysts have reduced the flow to the right kidney , which might have lead to to the almost on-functioning, so the renal artery is nor developed or gone into reduction in size as this is the way the body reacts. So how would the body cope = this is by overworking of the remaining i.e the left kidney which goes into hypertrophy= extra work leading to enlargement, again the nature's way to help the body to have normal functions. But the left kidney too has cortical cysts. You need to consult the Urologist as soon as possible to have further treatment, which may help you if you take this in time.
