What Is The Diet For Hashimoto S Disease?

I have been diagnosed with Hoshimoto s disease (my elder sister has it too). I am being treated with iodine supplements and food control (I am following a no processed foods, no additives, no food coloring, no preservatives ALKALIZING diet). The supplements I am taking are iodine (3x/week), selenium, milk thistle, nattokinase, NAC, a food based calcium supplement, and a wellness formula . These are all doctor directed and all but 2 are doctor supplied. I am getting some milk cramping in my foot and leg. The supplements are to handle the Hoshimoto s and hereditary high cholesterol troubles I am having. I am also (again, Dr. directed) drinking a glass of warm lemon water first thing in the morning and last thing before bed. I am supposed to be taking 20mg Lipitor 3x/week but ran out of them and haven t re-ordered. I am actually underweight and don t get enough to eat because everything I reach for is acidifying. My doctor s nurse practitioner/diet consultant wasn t much help. She handed me a printout of acidifying vs alkalizing foods and sent me on my way. I talked with a registered dietitian who said go vegetarian . Can you offer me some assistance on how to handle all this without starving myself to death? I have found a Kale chips recipe that I like (the Kale is seasoned and dehydrated... thus the chip ). I understand Kale is a form of cabbage and should not be eaten raw... and when I steamed some Kale the other night, my thyroid felt funny... so no more of that. In essence... H E L P !!!
