I want to know the difference between crestor and lopid? I was taking 10mg of crestor and now they want me to take 600mg of lopid twice a day. I am 55 years old 5 7 200lbs woman, I have type 2 diabetes, had a stent put in had several back surgeries along with cancer in my small intestine which was removed successfully.
Crestor is the trade name for the medication rosuvastatin. This is in the family of medications called statins, they work through a particular mechanism to decrease the cholesterol. It is very helpful in reducing LDL and VLDL types of cholesterol.
Lopid is the trade name for a medication called gemfibrozil, it works in a different way from the crestor and it is particularly helpful in reducing triglycerides and VLDL.
They would together to make sure, all this types are normal.
I hope this helps
