What Is The Difference Between Thyronorm 75 Mcg And Synthroid 75 Mcg?
What is the difference between Thyronorm 75 mcg and Synthroid 75 mcg? I had to change from Thyronorm to Synthroid when I moved to a different country. The new Endocrinologist said to switch because apparently, in my home country, there are shady things going on and it s not as regulated . Please explain.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Thyronorm tablet contains 'Levothyroxine' as ingredient. It works by replacing thyroid hormone that is normally produced by the body. It is used for the treatment of individuals with decreased thyroid hormone production. Synthyroid is a synthetic thyroid hormone 'levothyroxine'. It is used when the thyroid gland is under-active (hypothyroidism) and it does not produce enough thyroid hormone. The equivalent doses of this contains same amount of 'levothyroxine'. So the increments are comparable. Kindly take the medications as recommended by your doctor and do the necessary follow-up as suggested. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
