I have been using librax and buscopan for IBS .I noticed a decrease in urine output and urine retention problems.so the doctor told me to stop both librax and buscopan and gave me duspatalin retard instead. My question is what is the difference between buscopan and duspatalin retard as they both work by relaxing the colon muscles ???

Hello,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
Buscopan and librax contain antispasmodic of the anticholinergic group. These have side effects like urinary retention. Duspatalin works on the Calcium channel and brings relaxation of the gut smooth muscles. It's less likely to have side effects like urinary retention
I shall be happy to answer your further queries.
