General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Both Sinarest and Maxtra do contain paracetamol + chlorpheniramine, while sinarest contains pseudoephedrine while Maxtra (Phenylephrine).

I think both combinations are not suitable for your baby, too strong. Usually, not recommended for children less than 2 years old.

To me, in my practice, I start with :

- aerosol therapy to ease the congestion
- give fluids: water, milk, freshly prepared juice to the baby
- if cough is with phlegm give mucolytics, but do select those with herbal mixture

(- encourage giving chamomile/sage/rosemary/bay tea (1 teaspoon) as per baby taste
- apply cold balm containing eucalyptus oil only on the baby chest and back at night

If no improvement within 3 days, we should go for other prescription meds. Usually, babies do response well to this therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
