What Is The Dosage Of Metaxalone?

Hi, my PA prescribed Metaxalone as to treat a jaw soreness issue (determined not to be TMJ). It says to take 3 times a day, but it supposedly makes you drowsy and there s a warning to not drive after taking. I m wondering why they d prescribe 3 times per day given the warning about making you drowsy?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Metaxalone is taken three tablets a day because of its half-life.

In this way, it can be effective.

The dryness is a common side effect of this medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
