Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my doctor prescribed me 5 tablets of lorazepam (1 mg each) before my biopsy tomorrow. i have high needle anxiety, and i'm wondering how much and when i should take them. i've never taken anti anxiety before, i'm 26 year old female, around 150 pounds. the bottle says to take one an hour before my procedure. will this be enough?
Doses of lorazepam differ patient to patient. It depend on severity of anxiety and past response to treatment or anti anxiety medication. Usually 1-2 mg of doses of lorazepam is sufficient to control anxiety.
So, do not take all the tablets. You can take 1 mg in the morning on the day of procedure. As you will be in hospital at-least 2-3 hours before the procedures, so take remaining doses as per advice of doctor there.
Wishing you good health and all the best. www.99doctor.com
