What Is The Frequency Of Repeat Testing For Hepatitis C Infection?

I counsel women in addiction recovery. Many are tested for Hep C and one prior IV drug user said she was tested years ago and was negative but was wondering when to get retested as she is concerned there was a window where she may have converted to positive from negative. My understanding would be 6 months later and if negative no need to retest unless recent/new exposure?

Hello,

You are right. If after six months your hepatitis reports negative and if no further exposure in between then no need for further testing.

After six months if hepatitis report negative than hepatitis report can be considered negative.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
